Client Testimonials

Rita had helped me in the past so when I found myself pregnant again and trying to get away from my abusive husband I went to her. She found us emergency assistance and helped get me and my three children set up in a new apartment. She was also able to help me find me a job and other services for my children.  I was also able to get the maternity clothes I needed and clothes for my children here. Then when my baby was born I got baby clothes, formula, diapers and other things I needed for my baby. I couldn’t have done it without them! Thank you very much!

I came from France at 15 and married at 18. My husband hurt me mentally and physically for 12 years. I had no family, no one, but I left him for my freedom. Two years later I met a nice man, who tells me he can’t have children. Surprise, six months in the relationship, I was pregnant! I tell myself that I’m not but I am. When my baby was born, I was scared and embarrassed. An angel at the hospital gave me Rita’s phone number. When I met her, Rita opened up her arms and took me in and helped me. I never forget her help when I needed it the most! I try my best to do the same for others. Thanks to the Best Mom!

I met Rita when I was a teenage and had just found out I was going to be a Dad. She helped us to make plans for the baby while helping us to figure out about school, where we were going to live and finding a job. Then after our baby was born she helped us to get the things we needed for her. Now I’m out of a job and we are going to have our fourth child. I knew Rita and Emmanuel House would help us again. They are helping us get emergency and family care assistance while also helping us get things together for the baby. We really appreciate everything they do for us! So to make sure other families will be able to get the help they need when they’ve got problems I come in to help out and to talk with the other Dads and Dads-to-Be on a Dad-to-Dad basis.

I first came in when I found out I was pregnant. I was so scared because I was only 18 years old but a family friend introduced me to a wonderful woman who gave me support and helped me out a lot. Rita has been helping me for many years (most recently with my baby girl) and I am very blessed to have her in my life! She has given me a crib, diapers, formula and clothes for my kids. I’m very grateful! I don’t know what I would have done without her and her help! Thank You Very Much!

Thank you, Emmanuel House for the fine work you do with the women you serve who are pregnant.   We hear you have had almost 400 clients since you began 3 years ago. You have certainly been busy at all times. We thank you for being there in our community to help young and older pregnant women. You took action when no one else did to fill a very important need. God bless you and we will keep you in our prayers.

I became a volunteer at Emmanuel House a few years ago. It’s the go-to place for anyone in crisis due to a pregnancy. I’ve witnessed so many kind and loving acts. Rita has a heart of gold and an additional 100+ grandkids. I know that I am appreciated and loved at Emmanuel House, and that keeps me coming back.

Emmanuel House does a wonderful job helping those Families in crisis due to unplanned pregnancies who really need help. EHI’s Director, Rita McSweeney O’Brien, responds with a giving heart and a helping hand, and when necessary refers them to local resource providers for additional help.

Community Testimonial

Throughout His life on earth, Jesus often reached out to the outcasts of society, especially those who were unable to defend themselves against injustices done to them. In our society, in our great country and around the world, the unborn child has often become a social outcast that society has no use for. These unborn brothers and sisters of ours need a voice to speak for them and a strong arm to defend them. Emmanuel House is one place that continues Jesus’ work of reaching out and protecting those that society feels are expendable, namely, the unborn child. I have personally witnessed the flow of vulnerable clients through their convenient location and have seen the kindness and helpfulness of the volunteer staff. Rita and her staff at Emmanuel House have my utmost respect and gratitude and support for their work with vulnerable pregnant woman and protecting the unborn child.
